The fact that Internet Explorer is still the leader in this browser war is not so much of a news. It’s kind of given considering that IE is the default browser of Microsoft computers. But if Market Share tells us that Google Chrome just overtook Apple’s Safari, now that’s something worth talking about.
Chrome is a new player in the browser business, with a stable version released barely a year ago. Back then, it would have been unthinkable for Chrome to gain much on its competitors in such a short period of time, well, except for the fact that it’s Google’s brainchild and the product is bound to, ahem, dominate.
I personally switched to Chrome a few months back because of its minimalistic features but then the lure of Firefox’s plugins, extensions and add-ons pulled me back to the open source Mozilla browser. I mean, how could I turn my back on Firebug? and Foxy Tunes? and Personas? But you know what I hate most about Chrome? I can’t copy the web address in the browser with a right-click. Why Google failed to fix that is beyond me. I’m picky, I know.
