Looks like Firefox got some nasty bugs to fix this past few days. When I try to save photos from the internet, they couldn’t be stored as jpeg, png or gif in my hard drive. Instead, all I get are Firefox document URLs that open the Firefox browser when clicked.
I tried clicking “All Files” in the “Save as type” option but it doesn’t solve the problem. The file is still a Firefox URL. It appears that these are isolated cases though. Sometimes I can save the picture, sometimes I can’t. What bugs me is that I can’t really tell the difference.
The only work around I came up with is to copy the web address to your clipboard, open it using Chrome and download the photo from there. This is a very long, annoying process and I hope Firefox is doing something about it before they lose a large percentage of their users to Chrome which, according to reports, just recently won over Safari in the browser market war.
