What’s the Fastest Selling OS in History?

I wasn’t surprised when I read from FastCompany that Windows 7 is the fastest selling OS in history. You know why? Because XP is so outdated and people simply hated Vista. It was high time for an upgrade and the computing world is ready for whatever Microsoft dishes out to the market.

We really didn’t have that much of a choice, well, except cross over to Mac but not everyone really wanted to do that.

With the recent release of Chrome OS late last year, the OS market competition just got a little more exciting. Who would be the leader in the next 3- 5 years? Will Google finally beat Microsoft?

Nude It, A Social Voyeurism App for iPhone

So this is where technology would lead us in the near future?

CNet recently reported that on Tuesday, Apple store Komsomol approved Nude It, an iPhone app that lets you see your (soon to be ex-) friends naked. This would have been a welcome news if the app is intended for security purposes and the distribution is regulated. But releasing it to the general public via iPhone is kind of disturbing.

How would you feel if you know that you are being stripped down by a complete stranger? Would you still be friends with someone who’s overstepping private boundaries? This Youtube video is funny to a certain extent. But if this happens to you, I’m sure you wouldn’t find it as funny as this one.

Amazon Kindle DX Now Available Worldwide

Now for the first time, Amazon Kindle DX with Global Wireless is available to customers in more than 100 countries. Kindle DX has 9.7 inch electronic paper display, auto rotate capability and a much bigger storage hard drive that can hold around 3,500 books.

Like its predecessor, Kindle DX offers convenient features like 60 second downloads, easy-to-use page-turn buttons, and instant dictionary lookup. It uses the same 3G wireless technology like the advanced cellular phones that are now available on the market so it’s mostly guaranteed that you can always find a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Amazon now also offers more than 3,000 books for international customers, including new releases from your favorite authors like the best sellers from New York Times. These books are usually priced lower than the regular ink and paper books you can find in bookstores. International customers need only to pay the listed price of the books without the roaming fees and other wireless charges.

But here’s the thing: it’s now sold at $489, almost double the price of the previous release. Shipping starts January 19.

Can’t Save Photos from Firefox?

Looks like Firefox got some nasty bugs to fix this past few days. When I try to save photos from the internet, they couldn’t be stored as jpeg, png or gif in my hard drive. Instead, all I get are Firefox document URLs that open the Firefox browser when clicked.

I tried clicking “All Files” in the “Save as type” option but it doesn’t solve the problem. The file is still a Firefox URL. It appears that these are isolated cases though. Sometimes I can save the picture, sometimes I can’t. What bugs me is that I can’t really tell the difference.

The only work around I came up with is to copy the web address to your clipboard, open it using Chrome and download the photo from there. This is a very long, annoying process and I hope Firefox is doing something about it before they lose a large percentage of their users to Chrome which, according to reports, just recently won over Safari in the browser market war.
