I’ve tried to get into Mall of Asia’s IMAX theater to watch Avatar in 3D but the bold, nasty S-O-L-D- O-U-T- letters flashing on the screen in front of the ticket booth prevented me from seeing the most talked about New Year movie. And so for now I could just content myself with the staggering news that the James Cameron movie just made a whopping $1.02 billion worldwide.
According to reports (what else could I do but read the reports?), Avatar is now the fourth highest grossing picture worldwide, leap-frogging the spot previously held by The Dark Knight. In a matter of days, it is expected to surpass Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, and maybe even James Cameron’s very own Titanic.
Fantastic, if I only knew what these people are talking about!
EDIT: I watched it last night in IMAX and I was completely blown away. Avatar is one of the best movies of all time!
