Spend your valuable time doing the things you’re supposed to do online instead of constantly sorting through your cluttered inbox. Few simple tips:
1. Delete unnecessary emails. I know that Yahoo and Gmail now offer unlimited storage for your emails so that you will never have to erase another message again. The downside of this is that if you are not keen on cleaning up your inbox from time to time, you could get crammed with email subscriptions you no longer need. By erasing old emails, you are freeing up valuable bandwidth and speeding up the time you spend sorting through your inbox.
2. Change the notification settings in the social networks you are a member of. When signing up to social networks, most of us don’t bother to modify the default notification settings of these sites. This is alright if you only joined one network like Facebook or Twitter but if you sign up to almost everything you come across, you will end up having your email filled with junk in no time.
3. Organize your inbox into folders. If you don’t want to erase a single email like what Gmail told you, try organizing them into folders so that you will be ableĀ to keep track of them even after many years.
4. Stop subscribing to feeds and newsletters you are not interested in. If you didn’t subscribe to any of them but they still show up in your email, chances are that you inadvertently subscribed when you signed up for something in the past. Look at the bottom of the email and click the unsubscribe link.
5. Update the version of your email. This isn’t going to clean up your inbox but the new features might be useful for you.
